"The graffiti images were taken at Ali al Salem Air Force Base in Kuwait. The base is one of the main transit points for soldiers entering and leaving Iraq. It is a vast, sun-beaten collection of tents in the middle of the desert. There are dozens of trailers with bathroom and shower facilities skirting the edge of the complex. The walls of the bathroom stalls are covered in the soldiers' scrawls"--Colophon.
