The Colorado English Language Assessment (CELA) is the language proficiency assessment used for classifying and monitoring the progress of Colorado English Language Learners (ELLs) in the acquisition of English. This assessment measures the competencies necessary for successful social and academic language use in four major modalities: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing - along a continuum of five proficiency levels.
