RED (Review, Evaluate and Direct) Teams are child protection professionals who consistently gather information from reports of abuse and neglect and consistently make decisions about whether or not to conduct an assessment or investigation. In 2005, the Child Fatality Prevention Act established the Child Fatality Prevention System (CFPS), a statewide, multidisciplinary, multi-agency effort to prevent child deaths. Child fatality reviews serve to understand child deaths in order to prevent the injury and death of other children in the future.
